With all the expansion going on in the Reservations Dept., it's been pointed out that the dept. was centralized in SAN almost 10 years ago, in March. The first group of "new hires" for that San Diego base numbered 55 - and seven of that group were still around to collect their 10-year pins this year: Jan Garthofner, Eileen Bornheimer, Edith Hitchcock, Jean Cummings, Carol Witt, Lynn Wilkinson and Joan Winsby.
Lynn pointed out that, as opposed to a daily average of 20,000 calls received today, agents on duty ten years ago would sit around contemplating their next phone call -- often 15 minutes later.
